High School Voter registration Information
All eligible students can register with a paper application; however, only students with a Virginia driver’s license, learner’s permit, or Virginia DMV-issued ID can register online. Students also need their Social Security number.
Provide voter registration opportunities for students who will be 18 by November 8, 2022.
Option 1: Partner with the League of Women Voters
Invite the League of Women Voters to provide registration events. These can address either paper or online voter registration and include additional information about voting. These presentations can be in-person, if allowed by FCPS, or virtual.
Contact Alice Reilly (alice.reilly@lwv-fairfax.org) for information and to schedule.
Option 2: DIY
Use the Educational Materials posted on the left side of the page to help students register. Use the PowerPoints with the accompanying teacher script or the short videos.
Note: Need paper voter registration applications? Email hsvr@lwv-fairfax.org. We will provide applications.

New High School Voter Registration Law in Virginia
As of July 1, 2020, every public high school in Virginia must provide voter registration information to eligible students and give them the opportunity to register to vote during the school day. Registration could be via Virginia voter registration application forms or access to the Virginia online voter registration system on a school-owned computer device.
See the law here.
