LWVFA DECEMBER 2017 MEETINGS

Topic of the MonthProgram Planning for LWVUS and LWVFA 2018-2020

If it is Program Planning time, it must be December!  This year, we are evaluating the national (LWVUS) and local (LWVFA) Leagues’ positions to determine whether there should be a new study (or restudy of a current position) and/or which position(s) to emphasize for League action in the 2018-2020 biennium.  Since the League’s positions are used to influence public policies (advocacy and lobbying) at all levels of government, this is your chance to affect the League’s advocacy on national and local issues!  Discuss!

Coming soon! The December 2017 Fairfax Voter will feature Program Planning for 2018-2020.

Discussion Questions for 2018-2020 LWVUS & LWVFA Program Planning

Members are asked to review the positions of LWVUS and LWVFA and decide for each:

  1. Are there any new issues that should be studied? Why and prioritize new issue(s) to study.

  2. Do any of the current positions need updating (restudy)? Explain why and prioritize position(s) needing restudy.

  3. Are there any positions on issues that should have priority for action? Why is action needed and prioritize items in order of importance?

  4. Are there positions that should be abandoned (deleted) because they no longer apply or have been accomplished? If so, explain why.

  5. Who is willing to work on the issue/position?  (Names and contact information should be included

Then join the discussion at any of the following times and places.  If you have any questions, contact LWVFA Program Director Sherry Zachry at programs@lwv-fairfax.org.
