By law, every Virginia public high school must provide voter registration information to eligible students and provide the opportunity to register to vote during the school day. (Virginia Code § 22.1-203.4)
Educators may partner with the League of Women Voters to provide a voter registration event at your Fairfax County high school. Options include:
Classroom Presentations: LWVFA volunteers provide an in-person presentation about voting and assist students with the voter registration application.
Large Group Presentations: LWVFA volunteers provide a presentation about voting and assist students with the voter registration application in a large space at your school to multiple classes at the same time.
Table Registrations: A table is set up in a high-traffic location, such as in the cafeteria during lunch time or during a student event. LWVFA volunteers provide voting information and assist students with the voter registration application.
Virtual Presentations: LWVFA volunteers host a presentation about voting via Zoom and assist students with voter registration. Typically, multiple classes are addressed at the same time.
