Moot Joint Jury Trial Volunteers

High School Students who are already 18: Here's an opportunity for you that we offer twice per year: The NoVA Public Defender's Office is organizing a joint jury moot on

The goal: to have volunteer jurors from the community (preferably not lawyers or law students) to serve as jurors so attorneys can practice their jury selection for specific cases they have coming up and be better prepared to fully defend clients.

This will better prepare the as lawyers to fully defend our clients and ensure justice is served/

Besides jury selection, in the past attorneys have shown videos and discussed thoughts and reactions; they have had witnesses testify and discussed reactions; and attorneys have reviewed evidence to get a sense of the community take on the evidence, and on possible sentences (as juries in Virginia also recommend sentences).
